The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) of 1994 indicates that an individual may be eligible to become a lawful permanent resident if you are a victim of a crime committed by a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident spouse or former spouse, a U.S citizen or legal permanent resident parent or a U.S. citizen son or daughter. ​

U and T Visa

If you have been a victim of a crime who has suffered substantial mental or physical abuse while in the US and are willing to help law enforcement in their investigation, you may be eligible for a U visa. If you have been a victim of human trafficking (including labor or sex trafficking), you may be eligible for a T Visa.
